Despite his blindness he was still topping his class with the percentage of 98 in his 12th standard. But his life was not easy and he had to face multiple obstacles in his life. After a six-month legal battle, he became the first visually impaired student in Andhra Pradesh to study science. 

In 2014, Bolla made history by being the first international blind student to enroll at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in its Management Science program, which he continued to pursue by honing his leadership and entrepreneurial skills.

Bolla also founded the Surge Impact Foundation in the year 2016, which seeks to empower persons and institutions to achieve the goal of Sustainable Development by 2030 which is in 4 years. He has also co-founded the Samanvai Center for Children with Multiple Disabilities, an educational and vocational support program.
